To be honest, I wasn’t even a little shocked when I read the headline from the UK paper The Mirror: “ISIS orders killing of kids with Down’s Syndrome in latest sickening attack on the innocent.”
Is anyone surprised? It’s as if their Plan B, if the whole world domination thing doesn’t pan out, is to dethrone the Nazis for most depraved assholes in history. And they are well on their way – Reductio ad Hitlerum is quickly being replaced by reductio ad ISISum, at least in my social media circles.
Sadly, however, their stance on mentally challenged children is hardly unique. In fact, it’s also largely embraced by the West.
The idea that society is better off without the weight of weaker members is known as eugenics, and it was was a cornerstone of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s philosophy.
As The Washington Times reports:
“. . . she wrote many articles about eugenics in the journal she founded in 1917, the Birth Control Review. Her articles included “Some Moral Aspects of Eugenics” (June 1920), “The Eugenic Conscience” (February 1921), “The Purpose of Eugenics” (December 1924), “Birth Control and Positive Eugenics” (July 1925) and “Birth Control: The True Eugenics” (August 1928), to name a few.”
An expert if there ever was one. Among other things, Sanger supported the sterilization of anyone with a hangnail and, according to many, the extermination of African Americans.
And despite false notions of “progress,” and “product of her times,” eugenics is still very much a part of Planned Parenthood’s identity.
Per National Review:
“Ninety percent of Down babies don’t survive gestation, dying at the hands of abortionists to the general support of the ruling elite, medical intelligentsia, and society.
But it isn’t just abortion. Down babies have been starved to death in this country, the UK, and elsewhere by being denied routine abdominal surgery that would be required to be performed on non developmentally disabled babies born with bowel obstructions.”
Just as one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter, it seems that one society’s infanticide is another’s “reproductive health.”
While we gasp at ISIS’s cruelty, we turn a blind eye to the exact same cruelty in our own backyards. Where is The Mirror headline for the Down’s syndrome babies discarded by both Britain and the United States? Where are the comparisons to our most barbaric practices and theirs, outside of this ridiculous blog?
And yes, I just compared the American left to ISIS – reductio ad liberalum.
